A top-rated nonprofit law firm serving the South Florida low-income community is seeking a highly motivated substantive paralegal for its Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC). The LITC provides education to low-income and ESL individuals regarding their tax rights and responsibilities and represents clients in disputes with the IRS.

The ideal candidate will have experience interviewing clients, familiarity with poverty law issues, and an interest in gaining experience in tax matters such as IRS collections and examinations. The starting salary is $39K, with compensation commensurate with experience.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Attorney, the Paralegal will perform the following essential functions:

• Interview clients to identify facts, client goals, and legal issues
• Provide legal information, advice, and referrals under attorney supervision
• Assist in preparing legal and basic financial documents
• Conduct off-site client intake and community outreach
• Enter case notes into the case management database
• Handle administrative tasks such as collecting intake documents and identification

• Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole preferred
